Prompt engineering is the practice of writing better inputs for AI models: phrasing, context, constraints and examples that steer the answer. It grew from a hack into a discipline because the same model gives noticeably different answers depending on how the question is asked.

For brands, prompt engineering matters in reverse: buyers phrase the same buying question a dozen ways, and AI answers can differ with each phrasing. That's why measuring AI visibility across many prompt variants — not one lucky phrasing — is the honest way to know where you stand.
