AI Agent

AEOeye editorial team · AEO Glossary

An AI system that doesn't just answer — it takes multi-step actions like browsing, comparing and booking on a user's behalf.

An AI agent is a model wired to tools so it can act: search the web, open pages, fill forms, compare options and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Where a chatbot answers a question, an agent completes an errand — including shopping research that used to mean ten open tabs.

Agents raise the stakes for AI visibility: when software makes the shortlist, brands the agent's underlying model doesn't know or trust may never be surfaced to the human at all. Clear entity signals, structured data and consistent third-party descriptions are what agents have to work with.
