Google AI Mode

Google AI Mode is a dedicated, conversational search experience where you ask a question, get a synthesized answer, and can follow up in the same session. It's separate from AI Overviews, which are summary boxes on the standard results page — AI Mode replaces the results page with a chat.

Ranking in AI Mode means being retrievable across a multi-turn conversation, not just matching one query. It leans on query fan-out, so comprehensive topical coverage and passage-level answers matter more than a single keyword match.
