Best LLMrefs Alternatives (2026): Six Options, With Real Prices
By the AEOeye editorial team·Updated Oct 3, 2026
Part of our pillar guide: AI Visibility Tools

The short answer
The best LLMrefs alternative depends on why you are leaving. For daily tracking, Otterly.ai starts at $29/month (15 prompts), Peec AI at $95 (50 prompts) and Nightwatch at €99 (50 AI prompts plus classic rank tracking). For a free first look, AEOeye checks ChatGPT free and five engines for $29 once. LLMrefs' $79/month for 500 prompts is still hard to beat on capacity.
This guide is based on public documentation as of October 2026: each vendor's own pricing page, read on 3 October 2026. We have not tested LLMrefs or the alternatives hands-on, and AEOeye is our product, so we say plainly what it doesn't do. Prices change, so confirm before you buy.
Our view: most people shopping for an alternative fixate on price, when the real differences are refresh rate and how many prompts you can afford. For LLMrefs itself, see our LLMrefs breakdown and the head-to-head AEOeye vs LLMrefs.
Why look for an LLMrefs alternative?
There are three reasons visible in LLMrefs' own pages, and only one of them is about money. Each points to a different alternative.
- Capacity and pricing clarity. LLMrefs sells one plan: $79/month for 500 prompts, labelled "Limited time only" (LLMrefs pricing). Its FAQ says you can buy more than 50 keywords, but the price isn't published.
- Refresh rate. Its FAQ says each keyword updates in the dashboard "at least once per week" (LLMrefs FAQ). Otterly, Peec AI and Nightwatch all list daily tracking on their entry plans.
- Keyword-first design and thin documentation. LLMrefs says you track keywords, not prompts. Its Getting Started page read "Coming soon" (docs), and the free account's limits aren't listed.
If none of these applies to you, stay. Our LLMrefs breakdown covers who it fits.
Which alternatives fit which need?
Match the alternative to the reason you are leaving. The table gives entry prices as published on 3 October 2026; the notes below say who each one is for.
- Daily tracking on a small budget: Otterly.ai. Lite is $29/month for 15 search prompts across four engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot), with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini sold as add-ons (Otterly pricing). Standard is $189 for 100 prompts.
- Daily tracking with more depth: Peec AI. Starter is $95/month (monthly billing) for 50 prompts and three models of your choice, tracked daily. Claude and Perplexity appear only under Enterprise (Peec pricing).
- Rank tracking and AI in one tool: Nightwatch. €99/month on monthly billing, or €79 billed yearly, for 500 keywords and 50 AI prompts, covering Google, Bing and AI engines including Claude; 14-day trial, no card (Nightwatch pricing).
- A free start, then a managed platform: AthenaHQ. Essential is free with $25 of credit (300 credits); Starter is $295/month for 3,600 credits and 11 models (AthenaHQ plans).
- Enterprise: Profound. Brands get a free 7-day trial (50 prompts daily, three engines) or a custom Enterprise plan sold through a demo (Profound pricing).
Where does AEOeye fit, honestly?
AEOeye fits one job: a baseline. It is not a tracker, so it replaces LLMrefs only if you never needed weekly monitoring.
- Free: three unbranded buyer questions asked live to ChatGPT, with full answers, the competitors named instead, and starter fixes.
- $29 one-time: adds Claude, Gemini, Google AI and Perplexity, 10 questions instead of 3, a 5-layer SEO foundation audit and a fix roadmap, emailed as a PDF. Each engine runs at the default tier a free user gets.
- Not included: history, scheduled re-runs, share-of-voice trends. To see change, run it again.
Start at the free audit and read the answers before deciding whether to pay anyone monthly.

Do you need a tracker at all?
Not until you know whether AI names you. A tracker that reports zero mentions every week is an expensive way to learn one fact.
In AEOeye's audit records (127 completed audits created between 26 June and 7 September 2026), engines named the audited brand in 157 of 892 answers, 17.6%. The brands are self-selected and the engine samples are unequal, so this benchmark is a prompt to test your own questions, not a ranking of engines.
Our position: baseline first, then pay for monitoring only if the baseline shows something worth watching. That order holds whichever tracker you pick.

What should you check before switching?
Check five things in the trial, because pricing pages leave them out. Nightwatch offers a 14-day trial with no card, LLMrefs and Profound 7-day trials, so this costs an afternoon.
- Refresh rate. Ask what "daily" or "weekly" means in the dashboard, per keyword or per prompt.
- How prompts are counted. One prompt on three models is not one answer; Peec and Nightwatch both quote monthly AI answers.
- Engines you need. Claude and Perplexity are add-ons or higher tiers at some vendors.
- Export and API. Confirm CSV and API are on your tier before you build reports on them.
- Billing basis. Nightwatch's €79 is the yearly-billing rate; monthly billing is €99.
What does LLMrefs cost, for reference?
LLMrefs costs $79/month for everything: 500 prompts, all listed engines, weekly reports, unlimited projects and team members, CSV export and API access, after a 7-day free trial. That is the benchmark every alternative above has to beat.
Per prompt, the gap is wide on paper (our arithmetic): $79 / 500 = about $0.16 per prompt per month, against $29 / 15 = about $1.93 at Otterly Lite and $95 / 50 = $1.90 at Peec Starter. Treat that comparison with care. Vendors define a "prompt" differently; Peec, for example, counts monthly AI answers as prompts x models x tracking frequency (4,500 on Starter). LLMrefs derives prompts from your keywords.
The faster refresh at the alternatives is what the extra money buys. Whether it is worth it depends on how often you would act on a change.
When is LLMrefs still the right choice?
LLMrefs is still right when you need breadth and volume at the lowest listed price, and weekly data is fast enough. That describes many agencies and SEO teams.
- You work from keyword lists. Its keyword-first model is built for that workflow.
- You need many engines. Eleven are listed on its homepage, including Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek, which Otterly, Peec Starter and Nightwatch don't list.
- You serve several clients. One subscription covers unlimited projects and team members.
- You want your data out. CSV and API access are in the one plan.

FAQ
What is the best alternative to LLMrefs?+
It depends on why you are leaving. For cheap daily tracking, Otterly.ai starts at $29/month; for more depth, Peec AI starts at $95/month; for rank tracking plus AI, Nightwatch starts at €99/month. For a one-off baseline instead of a subscription, AEOeye is free for ChatGPT and $29 once for five engines.
Is there a free alternative to LLMrefs?+
Three have free starts. AEOeye's audit is free for three ChatGPT questions; AthenaHQ's Essential plan includes $25 of credit (300 credits); Profound offers a free 7-day trial. LLMrefs also offers a free account, but its pricing page doesn't list the account's limits. None of the free options is a full replacement for a paid tracker.
Does LLMrefs update daily?+
Its FAQ says every keyword is updated in the dashboard at least once per week and that results are checked in real time. The pages we read don't list a daily option. Otterly, Peec AI and Nightwatch list daily tracking on their entry plans, so choose one of those if daily data matters to you.
Is LLMrefs' $79 price permanent?+
Unknown. The pricing page labels the $79/month plan "Limited time only" and doesn't say what happens afterwards. Budget for a change, ask support before an annual commitment, and note that the page lists no annual plan and no price for extra keywords.
Is AEOeye an LLMrefs replacement?+
Only for a one-off check. AEOeye isn't a tracker: it has no history, scheduled re-runs or share-of-voice trends. The free audit asks ChatGPT three questions; the $29 one-time report tests 10 questions on five engines. If you need weekly monitoring, keep LLMrefs or pick a tracker above.
